Wolfgang Stroppa has been a project engineer at TIWAG-Tiroler Wasserkraft AG since 2002. Before joining TIWAG he worked for a large engineering company in the Tyrol for 14 years. In his capacity as design engineer and engineering consultant, he has worked on and carried out many infrastructure projects in Austria and abroad over the last 24 years.
He is the project manager of the Kaunertal power plant upgrade and has been working on the project since mid-2008.
‘The expansion of hydroelectric development in the Tyrol must be carried out in consultation with the people of the region. The local people most affected by the project should also benefit from the measures. Their arguments and concerns are important to me. It’s very important to me that I explain the project to everyone concerned so that they get first-hand information and form their own opinions. This creates a good basis for constructive talks and discussions. The results of our talks are directly incorporated in project development and planning.’
